Since 1998, the National Reining Breeders Classic Welcome Party has become a highly-attended super show that features amazing competition, wonderful food, and great company. At this year’s 25th Annual event, with new sponsorship from Hygain Feeds, it is expected to be better than ever.

Everyone is invited to attend the Hygain Welcome Party, which will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. inside the Crystal Tent. Expect to enjoy a scrumptious Brazilian meal while catching up with friends and making new ones. The camaraderie of the reining horse world is second to none and so is the hospitality at NRBC. This is not one to miss.

Deciding to sponsor the Welcome Party was an easy choice for Hygain Southwest Territory Manager Sarah Christen. She said, “Hygain shares a common goal with the reining horse industry – to provide the very best care to keep our horses happy, sound, and healthy so that they are able to reach their full potential both in and out of the arena.”

As an equine-only feed mill backed by 39 years of experience, innovation, and research, Hygain acquired Arenus Animal Health in 2021. Sarah noted, “Aligning with the number one endorsed brand by veterinarians has allowed us to build on a shared culture of technical excellence, customer care and passion for animal health. As we continue to gain market share in the US and a customer base spanning more than 20 states, it only made sense to sponsor a prestigious reining event like the NRBC.”.

Hygain is a premium, equine nutrition solutions brand, specializing in feed and supplements. Established in Melbourne, Australia, in 1983, Hygain came to the U.S. Market in 2018. The Hygain difference starts with their commitment to using only the finest certified ingredients, applying strict quality controls, and employing constantly reviewed nutritional research. What is unique about horses is their digestive systems, which require refined feed processing techniques.

Hygain’s modern manufacturing facility boasts a first-class combination of pelletizing, micronizing and steam extrusion. This approach helps improve feed efficiency, digestibility, and palatability while reducing risks of dietary-related equine disorders. The personal and flexible approach of the Hygain team adds additional value to a performance horse’s individual diet.

Christen’s employment with Hygain was based on her own experience with the product. “I have been breeding, raising and showing reiners for more than 15 years. I’ve spent the last eight years working in animal health, and joined the Hygain team in July 2021 after seeing the difference it made in our own horses,” she said.

She continued, “My trainer, Arno Honstetter, introduced me to the brand in early 2020, and I’ve been consistently impressed with the research and results. The NRBC has always been one of my favorite premier reining events, so I’m very excited to represent the brand in an industry that I love.

“We proudly produce the lowest starch complete feed on the market: Zero (less than 5.5 percent non-structural carbohydrates), which is ideal for quarter horses prone to metabolic disorders and laminitis. Hygain-fed horses truly stand out with outstanding body conditions, high-quality performances, and balanced temperaments.”
